Understanding Surface Technology in Dental Implants

What implant surface treatment is actually doing, and why it is engineered rather than incidental.

An implant's surface is not a finishing step — it is engineered alongside the thread geometry to influence how bone forms and remodels around it in the early healing period.

Surface treatment on i-Fix implants is applied and verified as part of the same in-house process that handles machining and inspection, rather than an outsourced coating step, which keeps it inside the same quality-system documentation as the rest of the implant.

As always, indications, technique and healing protocol remain the responsibility of the treating clinician — surface technology is one input among several in a treatment plan, not a substitute for case assessment.
